    Why is the Pokémon GO Fest taking place in Dortmund?

    The city of Dortmund is known for its hospitality far beyond Germany’s borders. For this reason, the city of Dortmund and the host, Niantic, Inc., are working together on its implementation in a spirit of partnership and close cooperation. The Westfalenpark as well as the Ruhr-district city’s scenery are influenced by industrial culture, providing an optimal environment for a special Pokémon GO gaming experience.

    Will the Westfalenpark be opened to visitors who are not attending Pokémon GO Fest?

    No. The Pokémon GO Fest is an entry-restricted event. The entrance to the Westfalenpark including the participation in the event requires a previously purchased ticket.

    Will the event take place even if the weather is bad (rain, storm, hail, snow)?

    The event will take place in rain or shine. It is recommended that you wear clothing suitable for the respective weather conditions. There will be no refund or compensation due to bad weather. In cases of extreme weather, participants will be informed through loudspeaker announcements. Instructions given by security and service staff must be followed at all times. The event rules and regulations apply.

    Where can I buy tickets for the Pokémon GO Fest in Dortmund?

    Unlike previous Pokémon GO events, this year you will need to sign up for the ticket draw for the chance to get up to 4 tickets in total. We are using this approach to give all trainers who would like to take part in the event a fair chance at receiving a ticket, as the total number of tickets is limited.
    The tickets are available through a brand new in-app ticketing system developed specifically and exclusively by Niantic and integrated into the Pokémon GO app. More information about the registration and ticketing process can be found here.

    No animals or pets must be brought into the park during the event. The event regulations apply.

    No. The tickets are valid for a specific event day only. During the purchase process one of the four event days must be selected. There is no bundled 4-day ticket.

    Can my child take part in the Pokémon GO Fest alone?

    All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is also a ticket holder.

    Trainers who do not have a valid ticket cannot see or interact with Pokémon in the park. Nevertheless, many Pokémon that will appear in the Pokémon GO Fest’s habitats will also show up around europe from July 4-7, 2019.

    Can I bring my child with me into the park / to the event?

    Every attendee needs to have a valid ticket to enter the park and interact with the Pokémon GO Fest in-game activities. Each ticketed adult can be accompanied by one (1) child under the age of 10.

    We work closely with the leading German mobile network providers to enable us to put on the GO Fest. Extra network capacity and temporary mobile phone masts will be provided in and around the Westfalenpark to make sure your playing experience is as enjoyable as possible.

    Are there gyms and raid battles during the event?

    To offer all players in the Westfalenpark and its immediate surroundings the most enjoyable playing experience possible, there will be no raid battles in or near the park. Gyms and raid battles continue to be active in other parts of the city of Dortmund.

    Is the Westfalenpark open to other Pokémon GO player who do not have a ticket?

    No, during the time of the event Westfalenpark will only be accesible for ticketholders of Pokémon GO Fest. Entering the park will only be possible on the date that is featured on the ticket of the attendee.

ARRIVAL AND ACCOMMODATION

    How can I get to Dortmund?

    Dortmund is easy to reach from all directions. Düsseldorf Airport can be reached in under 1 hour, and Cologne/Bonn Airport is less than 1.5 hours away. Berlin is only 3 hours away by train and Frankfurt is 2 hours away from the metropolitan area. In the area surrounding Dortmund there are more than 50 cities and communities that belong to the Ruhr metropolis and have an excellent connection to the city center of Dortmund.

    By car:

    Dortmund is surrounded by numerous major highways and is easily accessible from all directions.

    From the north:

    Take the A1 from Hamburg to the junction Dortmund/Unna, then the A44/B1 towards Dortmund-Innenstadt. Alternatively via the A2 coming from Hannover.

    From the east:

    Coming from the direction of Kassel via the A44

    From the south:

    Via the A1 from Cologne, the A45 from Gießen or via the A3/A40 from Frankfurt

    From the west:

    Coming from the direction of Duisburg via the A40 or via the A42 coming from Oberhausen.

     

    By plane:

    Dortmund has its own airport.

    For participants arriving from further afield, transit via one of the following airports is recommended:

    Düsseldorf

    Cologne

    Frankfurt

    Munich

    From all these airports there are direct Deutsche Bahn train connections to the venue in Dortmund.

    By train:

    Dortmund central station is located in the middle of the city. From there, the Westfalenpark is accessible either on foot or by public transport. The Deutsche Bahn lets you easily reach all surrounding cities as well as all other destinations within Germany. Information about the station

    Where can I stay?

    There are a variety of hotel rooms and other accommodation options in Dortmund and the entire Ruhr metropolis. For an exact overview and booking please use the usual booking portals.
    The city of Dortmund is very easy to reach, within 1 hour’s drive there are more than 10 other major cities such as Bochum, Essen, Duisburg, Wuppertal or Hagen offering a large number of rooms.

    Is the park accessible?

    Entrance to the park is accessible at all entrances, as are most of the paths in the park. However, there are some side paths that are not accessible and e.g. have stairs . The essential and large park routes as well as access to all event elements are easily accessible.

    The Pokémon GO Fest is proud to provide a dedicated tent for family-friendly services. You have the option to take a break, change diapers or breastfeed. Diapers are also provided free of charge. Please ask at the next help desk for the exact location.

    The following items are ALLOWED:

    Backpacks (only standard school backpacks. No frames or camping equipment).

    Empty beverage containers and water bottles (plastic or aluminum) max. 1 kg.
